Freestyle Dance Academy performs “King of Pop Tribute” at Temple’s Boyer Theatre

On Sunday, Freestyle Dance Academy once again took the stage to perform their “King of Pop Tribute,” only this time it was not at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. The dancers hit the stage farther up Broad Street, performing at the Boyer Dance Theatre, located on the campus of Temple University. After seeing Freestyle Dance Academy’s Philadelphia 76ers performance, the Institute of Dance Artistry, located in Fort Washington, PA, invited the dance studio out to be guest performers at their showcase event in Conwell Hall at the North Philadelphia college.

While the show was similar to the performance done at the Philadelphia 76ers game, a few new things were included to keep it fresh for returning audience members. The biggest addition was the solo of Bronx Boys member, Eric, who performed after Freestyle Dance Academy’s Kyle entertained the crowd with his popping skills. Eric is a member of The Bronx Boys Rocking Crew (along with Freestyle Director Mr. Tony), a guest teacher at the dance studio on frequent occasions, and the founder of Rhymes With Beat clothing, the company that provided the dance studio with their shirts for the Michael Jackson performance at the Wells Fargo Center.

The subtle changes allowed new viewers to enjoy the Michael Jackson tribute, but also kept Freestyle Dance Academy followers entertained with a few new surprises. After working for months on the performance for the Sixers, Freestyle Dance Academy was thrilled that the dancers had another opportunity to share their hard work with the Philadelphia community. The audience at the IDA Philadelphia showcase loved the performance, and we thank the Institute of Dance Artistry for inviting us to take the stage at the Boyer Dance Theatre. IDA is also the rehearsal studio for the professional Philadelphia jazz company, Project Moshen; a dance company that includes Freestyle Dance Academy dance teacher, Ms. Colleen.
