On September 30th 2012, I had the privilege of hosting the Cutting Edge Entertainment dance cast at Freestyle Dance Academy (on the grounds of Camp America Day Camp) for one of their dance practices. Being a part of this high-octane team myself, it was a personal joy to have all of the dancers grace the space here in Chalfont, PA. Craig, the owner of Cutting Edge Entertainment, started off the rehearsal with an insightful lecture from Gabriel Fredricks of Philip Gabriel Photography. Gabe educated the dancers on the photographer’s role and responsibilities during an event, such as a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Gabriel also shared a few pointers with the cast on how they could even assist a photographer in capturing that perfect moment. He reminded them of the importance of realizing that, as performers, they are always on camera at an event, even when they are not aware of the photographer. As Gabriel shared his experiences with the dancers, his crew also took some time to shoot these amazing images of the Cutting Edge cast rehearsing in Studio A at Freestyle Dance Academy.
After speaking with Gabriel, the dancers then dove into their practice with an energy that could have blown the roof off of the studio. Each cast member took his or her turn leading the group in various dance movements, both simple and complex, to an array of music from Michael Jackson to Motown to Gangnam Style (Craig’s favorite song). Watching a group of about 15 dancers turn, jump, spin and move through the FDA space was astounding to view as a spectator, exciting to partake in as a dancer, and inspiring to witness as the studio director.

The cohesion of the Cutting Edge dancers during their practice is something that absolutely impacts their performance during a party. It is easy to see how familiar each dancer is with the other. The energy was palpable, and it was a honor to host such a professional and animated dance team that utilized Freestyle’s space to its fullest potential. Cutting Edge Entertainment has been incredible to me over the years, and I was ecstatic to be able to have the CEE dance cast rehearse in the Freestyle space.
