The dancers of Freestyle Dance Academy hit the stage for the latest edition of Project Moshen Dance Company’s annual performance showcase, “Artistry Unfolded 2017.” The advanced b-boys & b-girls from the dance studio’s breaking (“breakdancing”) program, took to the floor to perform for the audience in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, and show off their unique style & dance moves. After performing in Artistry Unfolded for the last three years, Freestyle Dance Academy was fortunate to again be invited by Project Moshen to be part of the showcase. Artistry Unfolded is an annual performance series, presented by Project Moshen Dance Company, to introduce dance audiences to professional dance companies from the Philadelphia area.
The FDA dancers opened up their performance to Bruno Mars funky track “Perm,” putting on a display of clean & complex group choreography, both on their feet and down on the ground. After Ethan ended the set with a few crowd-pleasing flips, each dancer had the opportunity to showcase their individual talent, by freestyling (which means improvisation in hip-hop terminology) to a track of their choice. The songs selected by the Freestyle Dance Academy dancers were not only entertaining for the audience, but perfect representations of the dancers’ personalities. After treating the crowd to an assortment of rocking, floor work, power moves and tricks, the Freestyle Dance Academy dancers headed off stage to a round of applause.
A huge thank you to Freestyle Dance Academy Breaking dance teacher, Mr. Andrew, for choreographing such an awesome performance for the young dancers. Great job by the FDA breakers, Lauren, Bella, Ethan & Cooper, who rocked the again stage alongside some incredibly talented dance companies from the Philadelphia region. A special thank you goes out to the ladies of Project Moshen Dance Company, for inviting us (for the fourth time) to be part of such an outstanding collection of Philadelphia dance.
