Another dance season completed, with another incredible show by the Freestyle Dance Academy dancers! All of the dance classes from the studio took to the stage at Temple University’s Ambler campus, and rocked the theatre in front of a full audience of over 300 people. Every year, Freestyle Dance Academy presents the “Freestyle Dance Academy Dancer Showcase,” and the 2016 Freestyle Dance Academy Dancer Showcase raised the bar even higher than years past. With all dance styles represented, including hip-hop, jazz, ballet, tap, breaking (“breakdancing”) and more, the crowd was treated to a fun, energetic show with plenty of memories created by the Freestyle Dance Academy dancers.

Not only was the afternoon filled with tricks & technique from the dancers, but with some emotion as well. Freestyle Dance Academy celebrated the graduation of three Class of 2016 dancers, all of whom had been with the dance studio since the opening of FDA in 2012. A few special highlights from the 2016 Dancer Showcase included the debut of the Freestyle Dance Academy toddler dancers, who performed on stage for the first time. Since they are only about three & four years of age, FDA dance teacher Ms. Colleen joined them on to help them open up the show. After a roaring applause, the youngest dancers from Freestyle Dance Academy joined their parents in the audience to enjoy the rest of the showcase. Ms. Colleen later took the stage again, this time to perform alongside her tap student, Megan. The two dancers treated the audience to an entertaining Blues Brothers tap piece, complete with sunglasses.

Ms. Colleen was not the only dance teacher to grace the stage this year, however, as FDA director, Mr. Tony, also performed in the 2016 Freestyle Dance Academy Dancer Showcase. Mr. Tony took to the stage to perform alongside Senior dancer, Dante, during his Senior dance performance. Every season, the graduating dancers are offered the chance to do a special performance in the annual showcase. Dante asked Mr. Tony to join him for his dance piece, and he was all too happy to perform with one of his students.

The 2016 edition of the Freestyle Dance Academy Dancer Showcase was another huge success. All of the dancers performed at their best, and put on a show that the entire audience enjoyed. From the youngest dancers, to the most experienced, the stage was filled with talent, smiles & excitement. As the dance studio begins its fifth dance season, there is already a buzz building about next year’s Freestyle Dance Academy Showcase!
